Plane crash in the English Channel – occupants missing Brighton News

It is understood the plane – a Piper PA-28 – was heading for Le Touquet in France as part of a group of planes this morning.

Despite the fact that the plane may have already sunk, rescue teams have not given up hope of finding the occupants.

However, that evening, air and sea rescue teams had yet to uncover any evidence of the mysterious crash.

The pilot and a single passenger, believed to be the sole occupants, have not been publicly identified.

Speaking to The Mirror, a spokesman for the French emergency services said: “He crashed in UK waters for an unknown reason.

“The British Coastguard launched an operation supported by French planes and boats including the tug Abeille-Languedoc (Languedoc Bee), which was chartered by the French Navy.”
