RESIDENTS have been ordered to ‘stay indoors’ after police were called to the scene of a suspected unexploded mortar shell.
The explosive ordnance disposal team removed the shell from the scene, to allow a controlled detonation to take place safely elsewhere.
A police spokesman said there was “no risk to the public”.
He also said the shell was believed to have been “innocently purchased by a member of the public”.
Brighton and Hove Police thanked the public ‘for their patience during the road closures’.
