A166 Stamford Bridge accident: a man dies after swerving to avoid a lorry on the bridge across the River Derwent in North Yorkshire Yorkshire News

A statement read: “A black Citroën C4 Aircross was traveling from York on the A166, while crossing the bridge spanning the River Derwent, swerved to avoid a stationary HGV and collided with a nearby building.

“The driver of the Citroën was taken to hospital for medical attention but, despite the efforts of the emergency services, he sadly passed away.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss. They are being supported by trained officers at this difficult time.”
