Ford has unveiled the latest Heritage Edition model of its flagship supercar, which pays homage to the firm’s 1-2-3 sweep at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Holman Moody Heritage Edition Ford GT will make its public debut at the New York Auto Show later this month, alongside the second-generation Ford GT40 model that finished third on the podium 56 years ago. during the world famous race.

The special “ultra-limited” edition features the bespoke gold and red livery of the original 1966 race car, complete with white Oxford roundels. The number “5” is stamped on the doors, bonnet and rear wing.

Ford’s bespoke design also includes gloss carbon fiber on the front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser, mirrors and engine louvers, while a set of Brembo brakes are finished in black with graphics. silver.

Inside the car, Ford fitted the GT with carbon fiber door sills. The material is also featured on the center console. The seats, pillars, headliner and dashboard are upholstered in Alcantara and ebony-colored leather.

Gold is also present throughout, with the dashboard, door register bezels and seat crossmember matching the matte carbon fiber. The steering wheel, meanwhile, is finished in ebony Alcantara with gold paddle shifters.

Mike Severson, Ford GT program manager, said: “Of all the Ford GT Heritage Edition liveries we have done, the unmistakable gold and red theme of the Holman Moody Heritage Edition is an epic tribute to our arrival at Le Mans in 1966.

“Based on one of Ford’s best-known GT40 racing cars, this latest Ford GT honors the craftsmanship and ability of the Holman Moody racing team to outperform global competitors.”

The car joins other special Ford GT Heritage Edition models, such as the Ford GT 64 prototype variant, the ’66 Daytona edition and the Alan Mann edition.
