South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards: Sponsor says apprentices positively impact businesses of all sizes UK News

As an organization with roots in every town, village and community in Yorkshire, Openreach is very proud to support the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards for the fifth consecutive year.

A spokesperson said: “Over 2,800 of our employees live and work in the region – including over 760 in South Yorkshire – and we are working hard to provide excellent connectivity across the region.

“Key to this is our ever-increasing number of apprentices who bring new ideas, thinking and talent to our business. This year alone we are recruiting 200 new apprentices in Yorkshire and over 3,000 across the UK who will be trained to build and connect customers to our Full Fiber broadband network.

“We have already built the network for over half a million homes and businesses in Yorkshire and have announced plans to build tens of thousands more.

“Our apprentices will be at the heart of the build and we want to make sure that as a company we represent the communities we serve. We are committed to building a more diverse and inclusive team in a traditionally very white and male-dominated industry. Last year, we attracted 600 women to engineer-in-training positions, more than double the previous year.

“The South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, and others like them, are important because they recognize the value of apprenticeships and the positive impact they bring to businesses of all sizes. Apprentices earn money while they learn while their employers reap the benefits of new talent, increased productivity, and employee retention, among other things. It’s also good to celebrate a job well done.

Join us in celebrating the learnings. Nominations can be submitted by the apprentice, their employer, college or training provider or even proud family members.

We have 13 award categories in total, more details can be found on the event website https://www.syapprenticeshipawards.co.uk/

The closing date for entries is Thursday 28th April and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on 23rd June at the Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel & Spa.
