Met Office forecast for Somerset to bask in hot, dry final Easter holiday weekend Bath City News

People in Somerset are expected to enjoy pleasant weather this weekend, with temperatures expected to hit 20 degrees in some areas on Sunday (April 24).

Those gathering for St George’s Day celebrations can expect rain to stay away on Saturday lunchtime, despite the threat of a light downpour in parts of South Somerset early in the morning. Wet weather may return briefly overnight, but nothing to cause disruption.

Sunday is expected to be another dry day, with temperatures threatening to climb above Saturday’s maximum. Taunton should expect the hottest weather in localized weather, reaching 18 degrees on Sunday, while Bath, Glastonbury and Weston-super-Mare are slightly below at 17 on both days.

The Met Office forecast for the South West states:

Saturday April 23: The low clouds will dissipate giving way to a mostly dry morning with sunny spells. A few showers are likely to break out in the early afternoon, although these should die down later to leave a sunnier end to the day. Costs. Maximum temperature 17°C. The evening will start mostly dry and bright. However, clouds will gradually increase and a few showers will develop overnight, particularly in the south and west. Stay windy. Minimum temperature 6°C.

Sunday April 24: Sunday will start with showers in the west, although these will die down in the morning to leave it mostly dry in the region with bright or sunny spells. Less windy. Maximum temperature 17°C.

Richard Miles, a Met Office forecaster, said temperatures will remain in the mid-teens next week as it will be cooler than the balmy Easter weekend.

He told the Mirror: ‘There is high pressure across the whole of the north of the UK which is blocking any fronts coming in from the Atlantic. He added that this will help maintain normal temperatures for this time of year, but it will still be “pretty cold at night”.

“There will be a few frosts in rural areas overnight, but not much rain. There will be some sunny spells and a breeze early next week. All in all it will be quite pleasant .”
