Police are calling for witnesses in an alleged North Shields hit-and-run case involving a young child UK News

Northumbria Police are asking the public for help in a suspected hit-and-run case involving a young child on Waterville Road, North Shields on the evening of April 25. Around 5:45 p.m. in the south of town, a three-year-old boy was involved in a collision with a white Ford Focus.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene without exchanging details and before help arrived, police said. The boy involved was later taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Officers launched an investigation into the incident and managed to discover the location of the car and arrested a 50-year-old man. Now Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses to provide information about the collision.
