Two people on board a boat rescued by the Coastguard near Brighton Marina Brighton News

TWO people on board a boat had to be rescued by the coast guard near the marina.

Brighton RNLI was called into action on Monday night after reports of a vessel which had suffered a dead battery.

The two people on board the boat had phoned the coast guard to ask for help.

A lifeboat was deployed and found the vessel 1.5 miles south of Brighton Marina.

The boat was successfully towed to safety.

A Brighton RNLI spokesperson provided useful advice for those heading out to sea by boat.

“Make sure your watercraft is mechanically sound, check that emergency equipment such as life jackets, flares, VHF radio, PLBs, etc. are in working order, check weather conditions and ensure sure you still have a way to call for help.”
