Katie Kenyon’s cause of death revealed as head injuries after body found in forest | United Kingdom | News UK News

Lancashire Police confirmed the body found in Bowland Forest on Friday is that of the 33-year-old mother following official identification.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was held on Saturday and found the cause of death to be head injuries.

His family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

Lancashire Police said in a statement on Twitter: “We can now sadly confirm that the body found in Bowland Forest is that of Katie Kenyon.

“We found Katie on Friday after an extensive search and she has now been officially identified as the missing mother of 33-year-old Padiham.

“A Home Office post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday and the cause of death was given as head injuries.

“Our hearts go out to Katie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“The family continues to be supported by our specially trained officers.”

On Friday, Andrew Burfield, 50, of Todmorden Road, Burnley, appeared via video link from HMP Preston for a short court hearing charged with the murder of Ms Kenyon.

He only spoke to confirm his identity during the seven-minute hearing at Preston Crown Court.

Burfield has been remanded in custody and a trial date has been set for November 14.

Ms Kenyon from Padiham, Burnley, was last seen around 9.30am on Friday April 22.

It is believed she traveled in a silver Ford Transit van which left Burnley and headed for the Bolton-by-Bowland area.

Police said officers discovered a body in an area of ​​Bowland Forest on Friday evening after receiving new information about Ms Kenyon’s whereabouts.
