BBC Breakfast publishes job offer to replace Dan Walker from Sheffield as he leaves for Channel 5 UK News

A job advert has been posted for the 26.5 hour working week, promising a salary north of £100,000.

The father-of-three from Sheffield said: “I’ve never been motivated by money in any job I’ve ever taken, and while I loved working at BBC Breakfast and everyone who works on the show, it’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a brilliant team at Channel 5.

“And also go and do programs outside of the news,” he added.

It comes after Dan told viewers last week that his last day on the show would be Tuesday, May 17.

Asked by co-presenter Ms Nugent if he would have a departure, he replied: ‘As you very well know, I like other people’s parties – I’m always a little awkward when it comes to me. I’ll let you organize yourself.

Mr Walker, who was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing this year, is leaving to take up a new job at Channel 5 News, where he will replace Sian Williams on 5 News.

Dan moved to Sheffield as a student and has remained in the city ever since. He has in the past explained how much he loves living in the city, close to the Peak District.
