Emergency services closed New Road in Hellingly, East Sussex, after a man was found dead in the water.
The incident was first reported around 11am today, officers were present but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: ‘Just after 11.10am on Saturday May 14, officers responded to a report of a body in the water near New Road, Hellingly.
“Officers attended the scene, but the man was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
“New Road is currently closed while emergency services remain at the scene.”
The death is not being considered suspicious and the coroner’s office has been notified.
