The A38 in Somerset is due to close for ten days at the end of May for ten nights to allow the council to carry out emergency repairs.
Redhill Road will close between 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22 and 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1. A detour route put in place to accommodate the shutdown stretches over 41 miles and takes an hour and 14 minutes, taking commuters to Weston-super-Mare and back via North Somerset.
There are a number of businesses on the stretch of road which are due to close, such as a Holiday Inn popular with jet-setters heading to Bristol Airport and a number of lodges and pubs which will be affected. North Somerset Council has been approached to find out if the road will still be accessible to users of these companies.

The road is to be closed from the Ashley Lane junction, through Redhill and ending at the fork to New Road.
The detour route is as follows:
1. Head northeast on A38 – 0.8 km
2. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on A38 – 1.0 km
3. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on A38 – 6.2 km
4. At roundabout take 1st exit onto S Bristol Link Rd/Colliters Wy/A4174 – 1.9km
5. At Gurney roundabout take 1st exit onto A370 – 21.7km
6. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Somerset Ave/A370 – 1.5 km
7. At the W Wick roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on Somerset Ave/A370 – 1.8 km
8. At roundabout take 2nd exit towards Flowerdown Bridge/A370 – 0.8km
9. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit towards Herluin Way/A370 – 1.3 km
10. At roundabout take 2nd exit onto Marchfields Way/A370 – 0.7km
11. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on Marchfields Way/A370 – 0.3 km
12. At roundabout take 1st exit onto Drove Rd/A3033 / Continue to follow A3033 – 1.8km
13. Turn left onto Bridgwater Rd/A370 – 2.7km
14. Turn left onto Bleadon Rd – 0.7 km
15. Continue on Coronation Rd – 90 m
16. Turn right onto Bridge Rd – 0.3 miles
17. Turn left onto Bridgwater Rd/A370 / Continue to follow A370 – 5.7km
18. At E Brent roundabout take 1st exit onto Bristol Rd/A38 / Continue to follow A38 – 17.7km
