Bedford HC hosted a successful Masters Tournament.

Held on May 5, the organizers were lucky with beautiful weather.

There were four groups of six with great play throughout.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the versatile format, especially when trying to shoot.

The winners of each group went to the semi-finals seeing Mayfair Vixens take on Luton Tornadoes and Grangers Blaze take on Westoning Diamonds.

After two difficult semi-finals, Mayfair Vixens and Grangers Blaze qualified for the final with Jackie Stigwood and Jadine Brome as referees.

The match saw Grangers take an early lead with some fine shots from Beth and Kellise and soon they had a 6-0 lead.

But Mayfair Vixens were determined to fight back, with great defensive play from their GD Fay and some great interceptions from their WA Katie.

Grangers held her head high and managed to maintain her lead, winning comfortably in the end.

It was an excellent game for both teams and good refereeing.

There were fabulous crazy socks and costumes, especially from Cranfield Gems and Bedford Foxes.

But the winners of the crazy sock contest were Absolute, with socks, hair and face paint to match.

Cranfield Comets won the fair play award.

The final amount raised was £1,230, all of which will be donated to St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger.
