Crossrail’s, Elizabeth Line officially opens:

The over-budget line was supposed to be ready a few years ago, but saw a number of problems and delayed the project, including budget cuts, construction issues and the coronavirus pandemic.

But now it is officially ready to open and even received a surprise visit from the Queen herself earlier this month to mark the completion of the project.

Ahead of its opening, the historic and beloved hit card received an exciting update to add the new Elizabeth line.

The £1billion fleets of 70 nine-car trains will run every five minutes through the central section, from 6.30am to 11pm six days a week.

The new line will run from Reading in Berkshire and Heathrow Airport in West London to Shenfield in Essex and Abbey Wood in South East London via the center of the capital.

Stops should include stations like Bond Street, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, Canary Wharf, Whitechapel, Woolwich, etc.

The journey from Paddington to Canary Wharf will be reduced to 17 minutes, from more than 30 minutes by tube currently.

The central section will close on Sundays for several months – except June 5, which is part of the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend – to allow for further testing and upgrades.
