New fire safety guidelines ban MCM PE – metal composite material panels with an unmodified polyethylene core – on all new buildings in England of any height.
Previously, the material was only prohibited on buildings taller than 36 feet.
The cladding was used on Grenfell Tower in North Kensington, west London, which caught fire in June 2017, killing 72 people.
