Deaf dog learning to understand sign language finds forever home after months in care of Scottish SPCA | UK News

A deaf dog that was learning to understand sign language has found his forever home after spending months in the care of an animal welfare charity.

The Scottish SPCA appealed for a loving owner to take Gromit home after the young bulldog cross spent more than 142 days at one of its centres with “very little interest”.

In a public appeal at the beginning of December, the charity said Gromit hadn’t seen “much of the outside world” and needed someone to help build his confidence.

He was described as a “big bouncy boy” who loved to play and have fun.

During his time at the charity’s Angus, Fife and Tayside Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Dundee, staff implemented sign language into his training.

On Monday, the Scottish SPCA told Sky News Gromit was rehomed just before the new year and has been settling in well.

A spokesperson for the charity added: “We are delighted that Gromit has found his special family and forever home that he so much deserves.

“Every animal has its own unique and special qualities – we still have lots in our care looking for a loving home.
