Hermès text scam warning circulating in UK Brighton News

A Hermès text scam is currently circulating in the UK.

The fraudulent SMS claiming to be from the delivery company reads: “HERMES: We attempted to deliver your package on 04/12/21.

“Pay a reshipping fee of £ 1.57 on reroute-hermes.com to prevent your package from being returned to the sender.”

The link then takes you to a scam website.

Trade standards officers across the country are warning people not to click on the link.

Instead: “Forward fraudulent text messages, including phone number or company name, to 7726.

“It won’t cost you anything and it means your telephone company can investigate the sender.”

Scams are estimated to cost the UK economy between £ 5 billion and £ 10 billion a year, with around 53% of people over 65 being targeted by scams.
