Sainsbury’s issues urgent hepatitis A warning to all customers UK News

Sainsbury’s recalls its Medjool Taste the Difference dates fearing they might be infected with hepatitis A.

The Food Standards Agency reports that the supermarket chain is recalling all products as a precautionary measure.

Sainsbury’s urges customers not to eat the product and return it to the nearest store where they will receive a full refund.

The article has been removed from Sainsbury’s website and point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all UK stores that sell the product.

The notice will explain why the product is being recalled and share advice with customers on what they should do if they are affected by the product recall.

It reads: “It has been brought to our attention that packets of Taste the Difference Medjool 200g and 500g dates with a supplier / site code of K0014 EW may be contaminated with hepatitis A.

“We ask customers who have purchased these products with that specific vendor code not to eat them and return them to the nearest Sainsbury’s store for a full refund on their next visit for groceries and other essentials.

“Please note that packs without this code are not affected.

“If you have any questions or concerns, or if you are vulnerable, protected or unable to return the product to the store, please visit our website Sainsburys.co.uk/help or contact our Care line on 0800 636262.

“No other product has been affected by this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. ”

Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection caused by HAV which can be found in the stool and blood of infected people.

Symptoms caused by hepatitis A usually include fever, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dark urine, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin).
