Tribute to a motorcyclist from Portslade who died in the Hassocks accident Brighton News

The family of an “amazing and caring” grandfather paid tribute to their beloved relative after he was killed in an accident.

Nigel Peters from Portslade was riding his blue Suzuki motorbike along the A273 Brighton road in Hassocks on Tuesday morning when he was involved in the collision.

The 62-year-old’s family have now released an emotional statement following the fatal incident.

It reads: “Nigel was a loving husband to his wife, a wonderful father and caring for his children, a wonderful son, grandfather and brother and a much loved friend.

“He was highly respected and thought of by everyone who knew him, worked with him and met him.

“A true family man, Nigel was an absolute gentleman, and would do anything for anyone. Nothing was too much – that was his nature.

“He was smart but modest and known to those around him for his wit and brilliant sense of humor.

“His generosity, kindness and love for those he knew knew no bounds – he had the biggest of hearts.

“Nigel’s loss cannot be expressed in words, but it left a huge void in the lives of everyone he touched, especially his family.

Police and ambulance teams were called to the crash site at around 8:42 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13.

They arrived to find that Nigel’s blue Suzuki had been involved in a collision with a dark blue Vauxhall Zafira.

The only occupant of Vauxhall – a 31-year-old man – was not injured.

An investigation has now been opened as Sussex Police seek to establish the circumstances of the collision.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and anyone with information is urged to report, especially anyone who has captured the movements of either. vehicle on the dash cam shortly in advance.
