Plans for a new pop-up patio have been revealed.
The developers hope the plans “will turn the underused land overlooking the Worthing waterfront into a whole new food, drink and wellness center.”
The project aims to transform the open-air terrace of Grafton’s multi-story parking lot into a pop-up food and drink outlet for independent local businesses.
The plans, known as “Level 1”, were submitted by real estate company QED.
Harry Smith, Director of QED, said: “The pop-up will be open all year round and will offer an activity program including pilates, yoga, walking clubs and Tai Chi, as well as food. and drinks available all year round.
“We hope this will be a next step for some of the waterfront concessions to have a local and for their businesses to thrive.

“We hope that the pop-up will create 24 full-time equivalent jobs and we will focus on recruiting people between the ages of 16 and 24 who have been hit hardest by the pandemic.”
As well as being a hub for food and beverage businesses, the terrace will also be a flexible and creative space used to host health and wellness activities, public art, and events such as beach cleaning, comedy and quiz evenings and Christmas markets, in order to get involved. with different audiences.
Worthing Borough Council is currently working on the regeneration of the larger Grafton site.

A spokesperson for the authority said: “If approved, the pop-up space will create a fantastic link between the waterfront and the city center and enhance the appearance of the parking lot which is owned by first rate by the sea.
“It would help strengthen our local economy, giving local and independent businesses the opportunity to grow and develop after a very difficult year.
“The proposed development would also aid in our efforts to regenerate the downtown area by attracting visitors from all over what we anticipate will be a very popular year for stays.”
