One person was taken to hospital by air ambulance after a collision on a road between Murton and Hetton-le-Hole.
The Northeast Ambulance Service was called to report a traffic accident on the B1285 at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
A rapid response paramedic, an ambulance team and two teams from our hazardous area response team attended the scene of the collision.
The Great North Air Ambulance was also called in to provide support.
One person was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for further treatment.
A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called this evening at 5:45 pm to receive reports of a traffic accident on the B1285 between Hetton and Murton.
“We dispatched a rapid response paramedic, an ambulance team and two crews from our hazardous area response team, as well as support from Great North Air Ambulance.
“One person was transported to the RVI.”
