Amazon plans cutting-edge technology with London barbershop launch business news

Amazon will branch out into hair technology by opening a salon in the UK.

Amazon Salon, to be located in London’s Spitalfields, will offer traditional services, including basic haircuts and hairdryers, to adults and children, when it opens to the public “in the coming weeks”.

But the group – best known for its massive online delivery operation and TV streaming services – said it would also be at the forefront of testing for the latest developments in the industry, from augmented reality (AR) hair consultations to point-and-learn technology.

There are no plans to expand the operation or even to open abroad.

Hairdressing and hair care services will be provided by London-based Neville Hair & Beauty salon – managed by Elena Lavagni.

Amazon said the goal of the project is to support the professional beauty industry and innovation through a new kind of customer experience.

It included, the company said, a new point-and-learn technology where customers can point to a product they are interested in on a display shelf with the relevant information, including branded videos, appearing on a screen. display.

John Boumphrey, UK Director of Amazon, said: “We designed this salon for customers to come and experience some of the best technology, hair care products and stylists in the industry.

“We want this unique place to bring us a little closer to customers, and it will be a place where we can collaborate with industry and test new technologies.
