Barnet and Haringey postmaster elected to board of directors UK News

Two serving postmasters were elected to the Board of Directors of La Poste as non-executive directors for the first time in the organization’s 360-year history.

Elliot Jacobs, who runs seven post offices including Barnet, Haringey and Potters Bar, and Saf Ismail, who operates six post offices in Lancashire and Greater Manchester, received the most votes in a poll of thousands of postmasters.

The post office said the appointments were a key step in the “lasting reset” of its relationship with postmasters.

The couple will officially join the post office’s board after an induction and training program.

Post President Tim Parker said: “We have ambitious plans to unlock the potential of the Post so that by 2025 we will be a sustainable and sought-after franchise.

“Having two Postmasters serving on our Board of Directors will help ensure that our strategic direction is rooted in the reality of their experience and needs. This sends the clearest signal to this day of our determination to ensure that Postmasters are at the heart of our business. ”

Postmaster General Paul Scully said: “Postmasters are at the very heart of the Post and rightly should have a strong voice at the highest level of the organization.

“Saf Ismail and Elliot Jacobs will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience as Postmasters to the Post Board, and their insight will be invaluable as the Post seeks to reset its relationship with Postmasters. ”
