Two more people die with Covid-19 in Somerset – latest outage Bath City News

Two other people in Somerset have died after testing positive for the coronavirus.

The deaths have been reported in North Somerset and Mendip in the past 24 hours.

This is the third day in a row that deaths have been confirmed in the county, after three were recorded yesterday.

These deaths bring the total recorded in Somerset since the start of the pandemic to 1,206.

There have also been 20 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the county, six of which have been registered in the local authority of Sedgemoor.

There were two new positive tests in Bath and North East Somerset, five in North Somerset and Somerset West and Taunton respectively, six in Sedgemoor and two in South Somerset.

The new cases in Somerset are part of a total of 2,061 registered across the UK in the past 24 hours, bringing the national total to 4,403,170.

UK figures

There have been 32 deaths recorded today, within 28 days of testing positive, across the UK.

More than 127,000 people have lost their lives across the UK since the start of the pandemic, but the daily death toll has been falling since the second peak on January 19.

According to the latest figures, 132 people have also been admitted to hospital across the UK, with the total in the previous seven days now standing at 1,781. There are 243 patients in mechanical ventilation beds.

As it stands, the number of people who received their first dose of the vaccine has exceeded 33.5 million, the current total being 33,508,590.

There are also now over 12 million who have received their second blow.
