All Over 40s In England Can Now Book COVID Vaccine Appointments | UK News

Everyone over 40 in England is now advised to book their first appointment for a coronavirus vaccine.

This is the third time this week that the COVID-19[female[feminine The vaccine reservation system was extended, after offered to over 44s on Mondays and over 42 years old Tuesday.

According to NHS, nearly three-quarters of a million appointments were booked earlier this week as the schedule was expanded – and now anyone over 40 can book one via the national booking site.

The expansion of the immunization program comes as figures show more than 34 million people across the UK have now received a dose, and more than 14 million people are now fully immunized.

Outgoing CEO of NHS England Sir Simon Stevens, who announced he would resign this summer, said: “With nine-tenths of people aged 45 and over having been trapped, nearly three-quarters of a million new appointments were made in just two days as our reservation service opened to people aged 42 to 44.

“With the second doses also proceeding at a rapid pace, we are now ready to invite all people aged 40 and over to join in the most successful vaccination campaign in the history of health services.”

The goal of delivering a first dose to the nine most vulnerable groups by April 15 was met three days earlier, allowing the program to expand in the second half of this month.

Despite supply constraints and second shots for those most at risk of dying coronavirus being a priority, millions more people still received their first vaccinations.

Within a week of being asked to book, two-thirds of those 45 to 49 had received their first dose.
