New coronavirus cases confirmed in almost all areas of Somerset Bath City News

Another 15 cases of coronavirus were recorded in Somerset today (Sunday, May 2).

Daily official government statistics show a slight increase in new cases in all but one area in the last 24-hour period on record.

Somerset West and Taunton were the only region where no new cases were identified.

The death toll remained unchanged in all local authorities except one, Sedgemoor, where another person died within 28 days of testing positive.

The number of cases today is down from the 22 recorded yesterday.

The foreclosure rules are expected to be relaxed again on May 17, two weeks tomorrow, if statistics still indicate it is safe to do so.

Various changes are planned, including the return of households meeting indoors, and an increase in the number of people allowed to congregate outdoors.

Across the UK today, an additional 1,671 new cases of the virus have been recorded, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 4,420,201.

Fourteen other people in the UK have died within 28 days of testing positive.
