Ikea is launching an old furniture buyback program (once you’ve done the bulk of building it) Business

Products eligible for redemption include dressers, office drawer cabinets, small structures with drawers, display racks and sideboards, bookcases and shelves, small tables, multimedia furniture, cabinets, tables and desks. pantry, chairs and stools without padding, dressers and children’s products, except baby articles.

Customers can submit articles for review by filling out an online form. The tool will automatically generate a preliminary offer and customers will then be invited to take the fully assembled product and the introductory offer to the Returns and Exchanges office at their nearest store, where they will receive a voucher.

The voucher will not have an expiration date to encourage customers to only purchase new items when they really need something.

Ikea will resell the items at its circular hubs, formerly known as Bargain Corner, in a bid to prevent them from going to the landfill.

The retailer is currently testing a “pre-liked label” service giving customers information about the past of a used item.
