Hertfordshire County Council calls for firefighters on duty UK News

The Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service invites people to join ‘one of the most exciting and rewarding jobs you can do’.

They are fully trained firefighters who intervene in the event of an incident from their home or work.

Able to get to the fire station of their choice within four minutes of their home or place of work, they carry out their normal daily activity or main job, but are contacted via an alarm in the event of a 999 call.

Once alerted, firefighters on duty check in at their fire station, collect their firefighter kit and work alongside full-time firefighters during the same incidents.

Fire stations currently requiring more coverage include: Tring, Markyate, Redbourn, Wheathampstead, Kings Langley, Harpenden, Cheshunt, Hoddesdon, Welwyn, Hertford, Ware, Buntingford, Much Hadham, Sawbridgeworth, Bishops Stortford, Hitchin, Baldock.
