The body of a newborn baby was found in the Grand Union Canal in London.
Metropolitan Police said officers and paramedics were called to the section of the canal near Old Oak Lane in the city’s northwest on Sunday just before 1:20 p.m.
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cords are in place and an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances.
Police urge the baby’s mother to seek medical assistance by dialing 999.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 using the reference 3589/09.
