The RSPCA has launched a pet contest designed to showcase special bonds with their owners and raise money for local animal services.
The Home Pet Show, which runs May 17 through June 14, will feature six main categories – including Best Stuff, Old Days, and Best Rescue – with all funds going to the RSPCA’s frontline work.
A spokesperson for the RSPCA’s Southridge Animal Center at Potters Bar said, “The Home Pet Show is designed to showcase people’s animal friends and their special connection to them.
“Unlike other pet shows, the RSPCA Home Pet Show does not focus on appearance or reproduction, but instead prefers to see happy and content animals, their natural behaviors and the special bond they have between them and with their human companions.
“Regional winners will be chosen on June 14 and 12 finalists (2 per class) will be chosen to participate in a live Zoom Home Pet Show on June 19 as part of Virtual One Fun Day, a day of online entertainment themed animals. . ”
Local winners will win a rosette, certificate, £ 50 rover gift card and a toy handmade by one of our volunteers.
The live finale will be hosted by Chris Sherwood, CEO of the RSPCA, and a special guest – where they will crown Best in Show 2021 – the best pet in the country.
Participants are encouraged to choose the Southridge Animal Center as their local branch to help raise funds for the animals in their care – like Trudie the “miracle cat”.
The spokesperson added, “We love to know everything about your pet, your relationship with him, his history and your journey together, so take the time to tell us about you and your wonderful pet.
“We hope you will join us in celebrating all of our animal friends and helping us raise funds for all the animals in our care at RSPCA branches, centers and hospitals.
The full list of categories and details on how to enter will soon be posted on the Southridge website.
