A person was struck by a train between Luton and Bedford stations

Rail lines between London St Pancras International and Bedford were blocked after a person was struck by a train between Luton and Bedford around 5.30pm today (May 12).

A spokesperson for the East Midlands Railway said: “Sadly, at around 5:30 p.m. someone was struck by a train between Luton and Bedford stations. Our deepest condolences go out to friends and families of all people involved and we respond to all necessary inquiries. “

At approximately 8:10 p.m., the East Midlands Railway reported that the trains were running again.

He tweeted: “After someone was struck by an earlier train, the route has now reopened between Bedford and Luton. Services are able to cross the area again, and we are working to restore our schedule. Services remain subject to disruption like trains and crew out of place. We recommend taking alternative routes, where tickets are accepted. “

Rail replacement buses were put in place as lines were blocked – but East Midlands Railway reported IT difficulties that prevented it from being able to notify passengers via screens at stations.
