A murder investigation is launched after the body of a Manchester man was found in the village of Calderdale Yorkshire News

The body was found at 6.40am on Thursday May 13 at Pike End Road in Rishworth in Calderdale.

It is believed to be that of a man in his 20s from Moss Side in Manchester.

Police believe his death may be related to a disturbance on Delaunays Road, Crumpsall, around 3.40am the same day.

The body was found on Pike End Road in Risworth.

An autopsy revealed that he suffered serious head injuries after being hit with a weapon.

No arrests have yet been made.

The police are urging anyone with information to contact the police.

Superintendent Rebecca Boyce, GMP City of Manchester Division, said: “This is a very serious incident that has caused a man to lose his life under circumstances that appear to be dire. Our thoughts are with his family and our specialist officers will support them through this incredibly difficult time.

“We are working at a great pace to try to piece together the events around this time to find those involved, and we are particularly interested in anyone who has heard of the riots on Delaunays Road or who has witnessed any suspicious behavior in the early hours of the week. Thursday morning, as this could be crucial.

“I understand that this incident will cause concern within the local community, and I would like to assure residents that we have a number of lines of investigation that we are thoroughly investigating. We will also have an increased police presence in the area as we continue our investigation.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a body in West Yorkshire of a man believed to be from Manchester.

At around 6.40am yesterday morning (Thursday, May 13, 2021), West Yorkshire Police attended reports of a body found on Pike End Road in Rishworth, Calderdale.
