Santander apologizes for problems with app, ATMs, cards and other services | Economic news

Santander apologized after the bank’s phone, branch, online and card services all experienced major problems on Saturday, preventing customers from accessing accounts or even buying food at the supermarket.

A spokesperson added: “We continue to work on a full recovery by the end of the day. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

“No one will be paid and starting Monday we will be posting details through our website and social media channels on how affected customers can make a claim.”

Many have speculated on social media that scheduled maintenance, which was due to be performed on Santander’s mobile banking app on Friday and confirmed on its website, was the root of Saturday’s problems.
