Somerset coronavirus latest with just five new cases recorded Bath City News

Only five new cases of Covid were reported in Somerset in the latest government update.

Three areas recorded no new cases during this period.

The government said three more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 127,694.

Separate figures released by UK statistical agencies show that there have been 152,000 recorded deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The government also said as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday there had been 2,696 more laboratory-confirmed cases in the UK.

This brings the total to 4,452,527 after adjusting the way the number of cases is calculated.

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results recorded in the past 24 hours in parentheses:

Death within 28 days of a positive test result

Statistics show the number of deaths of people who have died within 28 days of a positive test result.

Bath and North East Somerset: 218 Mendip: 162 North Somerset: 315 Sedgemoor: 160 Somerset West and Taunton: 203 South Somerset: 153

Government data up to May 18 shows that of the 57,855,958 jabs administered in the UK so far, 36,985,505 were first doses – an increase of 174,100 the day before.

Some 20,870,453 were second doses, an increase of 324,001.
