Man to appear in court charged with stabbing in Sunderland pub UK News

A man is due in court for being stabbed in a Sunderland pub.

Emergency services were called to The Wheatsheaf just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night with reports of a disturbance between a group of men inside the bar.

Police attended and found a man in his 40s with a suspected punctured lung which was “consistent with having been caused by a bladed article” and was taken to hospital in a state of repair. not putting his life in danger.

The force later confirmed that police arrested three men aged 37, 34 and 23 in connection with the incident.

Police confirmed on Thursday morning that Daniel Barnes, 34, of Esdale, Sunderland, had been charged with causing bodily harm with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, common assault and possession of a bladed article.

He is due to appear before South Tyneside magistrates on Thursday.

Police also confirmed that a 37-year-old man was released on bail while a 23-year-old man was released without further action.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said at the time: “Emergency services came and found a man in his 40s with a punctured lung suspected of having been caused by a bladed article.

“An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the disturbances and the identity of those involved.
