A ROUTE will sometimes be closed while essential month-long repair work is being carried out.
Drainage, repairs and sidewalk resurfacing are scheduled to begin on Sea Road in Winchelsea Beach on Tuesday June 1 and continue through Thursday July 1.
The road will remain open during drainage and planking work from June 1 to 14, and temporary traffic lights will be in place.
Resurfacing and targeted repairs of the patches will begin June 28 and continue through July 1, with day and night road closures.
Sea Road will be closed at the following times:
Monday June 28: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tuesday June 29: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Wednesday June 30: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Thursday July 1st: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The road will be rebuilt from the junction with the A259 between the junction with Jenny Lane and Old River Way.
Patch repairs will take place near the east access to Old River Way and the entrance to Winchelsea Sands Holiday Park.
East Sussex County Council said there would still be access to the holiday park and residents, but delays are likely and the detour route may need to be followed.
While the road is closed, traffic will be diverted along Battery Hill, Fairlight Road, Rye Road, A259 Winchelsea Road, A259 Main Road and A259 Tanyard Lane.
Bus routes can be affected and people are advised to check with their bus company for changes in services.
