Police closed the A39 near Venniford Cross following a serious accident.
It is understood that the collision occurred between Minehead and Porlock.
Officers are on the scene and the road is expected to be closed for “a period of time.”
Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Officers are witnessing a serious collision of two vehicles on the A39 near Venniford Cross, between Minehead and Porlock.
“The road is likely to be closed for a while. Please avoid the area and take alternative routes.”
