No further action is taken against three hunters after an instructor has been injured by a horse.

Peter White was shocked and suffered bruises and a tear on his finger as a result of the incident on December 5 last year.

The officers received a report from the Hermitage district at around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, where a man in his 50s was run over by a horse and his rider.

The incident was filmed by members of Somerset Wildlife Crime, a spokesperson said: “As monitors we see various hunts across the southwest.

“On the morning of 12/5/20, while at Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt, we had filmed a fox rinsed out of the woods and chased early in the day and stayed close to the hunt throughout the morning.

“The frustration of the hunt during the morning became clear with some riders exchanging insults at the monitors.

“A certain level of hostility is not uncommon though, what happened in the early afternoon was beyond the bucket.”

Peter White, who was run over, said: “A 6pm horse weighs almost a ton, I was incredibly lucky not to have been seriously injured.

“I got up quickly.

“I had bruises and a tear on my finger and was in shock.”

After an investigation, Dorset Police decided that no further action would be taken against the three men.
