A fundraising page raised thousands of pounds for the funeral costs of a teenager found dead on Tuesday.

The body of Marc Williams from Uckfield was found in the woods surrounding the Heron’s Ghyll area after being reported missing on Sunday.

Although it was only created less than a day ago, a fundraiser remembering the 18-year-old has already raised more than £ 3,600.

It has already surpassed the initial target of £ 1,000.

Lee William’s, the organizer of the fundraiser, said Marc’s family were grateful for the “sheer generosity to others” and the support they received.

Writing on the GoFundMe page, Lee said, “Marc disappeared recently, shortly after telling us he was going home after drinking with his friend and then not coming home.

“These donations will go to Marc’s funeral and everything else will be tracked to support us and support our causes, we want justice to be done for Marc, so thank you very much for everything, not just the donations but the emotional support and even being there.

“I also cannot stress how grateful we are to all of the Sussex Police and all of the police who came to find him and work on this case. Thank you so much.”

Yesterday, Marc’s family paid tribute to their “loving and caring” son.

In a statement released by Sussex Police, Marc’s family said: “Marc touched the hearts of so many people and made their lives brighter through his loving, caring and thoughtful actions.

“We feel his loss every second and that will never change. Our hearts are broken.

“Rest in peace, our brazen boy. With so much love from mom, dad and all your family.

Marc’s friend Lewis Ashdown has been charged with murder and was arrested in Eastbourne on Tuesday.

Ashdown, 19, of Normansland, Fairwarp, Uckfield, appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court yesterday.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear in Lewes Crown Court today.
