1. Bardsley’s, Baker Street

Founded in 1926, Bardsley’s is so popular that there is usually a line at the door.

With a 4.6 rating and 480 reviews on Google, this has to be one of the top rated and most popular fish and chip shops in the region.

One reviewer said: “Delicious fish and chips. By far the best in Brighton!

“All the staff are wonderful and very friendly.”

Another added: “Bardsley’s is a fantastic traditional fish and chips. I think it’s the best in the world!

“I grew up in Brighton but now live abroad but always come here when I visit.”

2. Nets, Lewes Road

Filets has a large menu with something for everyone and you can even pre-order and have it delivered to skip the lines.

A local visitor said: ‘Best sausage and steak and kidney pie in Brighton!

“No Styrofoam packaging either so hurry up for less waste! Lovely staff and very approachable.”

Another said: “Simply the best crisps in Brighton. For a Yorkshireman, peas are delicious.”

“This has to be the best fish and chips in the Brighton and Hove area, a light and crispy batter on a very large piece of fluffy white cod, the fries were soft and not at all greasy, struggled to finish the portion, ”reads one five-star review for this popular take-out.

” The staff was friendly and helpful. The food (the most important part) was fresh, crispy and hot – the portions were generous.

“The presentation was very good. So good in fact that a passer-by commented on how beautiful it was and asked where it came from. I can’t wait to go back!”

One reviewer said: “Really helpful staff and excellent service have been going there regularly for over a year.”
