Davina McCall found herself with her hands on her head in disbelief that Bonnie Langford would be revealed as the squirrel in Saturday’s Masked Dancer final.
After Scarecrow was unmasked as EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite and Take That’s Howard Donald turned out to be the person hiding in Zip’s costume, only Squirrel and Carwash remained standing.
And in the end, the virtual audience chose Carwash as the winner of Masked Dancer, which meant another dance performance triumph for Olympic gymnast Louis Smith, who had already won Strictly in 2012.
Panelist Mo Gilligan correctly guessed Louis, but none of the judges put former Doctor Who star Bonnie in the frame to be Squirrel, all opting for younger female stars like Maisie Smith and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts.

Mo Gilligan reacted: “I didn’t see it coming”, as Davina told the famous redhead: “Your energy only screams youth! You are amazing!”

Guest panelist Holly Willoughby added: “The way you move your body on this stage, it’s like you’re 18. It’s ridiculous!” before Bonnie proudly shows off her Pussycat Dolls high kick.
Davina then joked: “They would be lucky to have you!”
Jonathan Ross recalled a Doctor Who clue from one of Squirrel’s VTs, pointing to the fact that Bonnie previously played the assistant on the longtime BBC show and also the nod to her role in Just William and his character’s famous slogan “I’ll scream!”
Viewers were also in awe of Bonnie’s dance, with a tweet: “You were amazing giving women in their 20s a run for their money !!!!” and another reacting: “what a fabulous example for women of a certain age”
