This West Country beach was voted one of the UK’s best – and you can see why Bath City News

The top ten UK beaches for 2021 have been revealed, and they include a Dorset hotspot.

The study, conducted by Holidaycottage.co.uk, compared more than 400 beaches in England, Scotland and Wales, rating them on a number of factors.

The availability of parking, toilets, lifeguards, cafes, water quality, accessibility, water sports and whether the beach accepts dogs, were all taken into account by the judges.

And Alum Chine Beach, just a mile from Bournemouth Pier, is the UK’s seventh favorite coast in terms of what it has to offer.

Hailed by a local blogger as “clean and wide, safe and shallow,” Alum Chine has its own pirate-themed adventure playground, as well as an Italian restaurant, ice cream stand and sanitary block in a few meters from the seaside.

Meanwhile, Saltburn Beach in Yorkshire took the top spot, wowing the judges for a number of factors, reports The Mirror.

The water is suitable for swimming and there are lifeguards during the high seasons, while on the windier days it tends to be a hit with surfers.

There is plenty for families to explore in the area, from the Cliff Tramway to a miniature railway, as well as a plethora of water sports on offer.

Fistral Beach in Cornwall took home the silver medal in the new ranking, also proving popular with a wide range of facilities and impressive water quality.

It has long been a favorite with vacationers thanks to its large expanse of golden sand and rugged coastline views, not to mention the great swimming waters (there are lifeguards in high season).

Third place on the podium went to Hemsby Beach in Norfolk, another stretch of golden sand shoreline that attracts families during peak seasons, thanks to the convenient facilities and easy-to-access location.
