Body of kayaker Shane Davies found off Selsey and Pagham Brighton News

A BODY was found following a desperate search for a struggling kayaker off the coast of Sussex.

Emergency services were called to Pagham and Selsey Beach in an attempt to locate Shane Davies yesterday afternoon (Saturday June 12).

The 33-year-old disappeared around 3:30 p.m. and was separated from his friend as they swam to shore.

The footage shows coastguard and HM police teams searching the beaches in hopes of finding Shane.

The Coast Guard helicopter was also called in to help with the search at night.

But now Sussex Police have confirmed that a body has been found.

The force said: “A body was found in the search for Shane Davies, who went missing after experiencing difficulties kayaking with a friend in the Pagham / Selsey beach area.

The 33-year-old man went missing around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday June 12 after being separated from his friend while swimming to shore.

“The Coast Guard and the police have carried out extensive searches in the area.

“Unfortunately, on Sunday morning (June 13), a body was found in the water believed to be Shane’s.

“Next of kin have been notified and the matter has been referred to the coroner’s office.”

Inspector Oliver Pullen said: “Our hearts go out to Shane’s family at this incredibly difficult time.”
