Rhinos’ ninth round match with St Helens, due to be played at Headingley on Friday night, was postponed after two players reported positive test results, and several others were forced to isolate themselves as a result. .

A spokesperson said: “The rationale for this decision is to ensure that any trace of the virus is eradicated before returning to training ground.

“It is expected that with the waiting period observed, all cases will be collected during this period and a subsequent return will give a clear restart.

“This process will remain under review depending on the test results for the next five days.”

If next Saturday’s match is postponed, it is believed that the clubs will look to reorganize it for the weekend of the Challenge Cup final on July 17.

Huddersfield hopes to play his home game against Wigan, who was also called up on Friday as a result of a series of positive Covid tests at Giants’ camp that weekend.
