Somerset Covid at the latest as 66 more cases are reported in the county Bath City News

Another 66 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Somerset, according to the latest official figures released today (Wednesday, June 16).

North Somerset has confirmed 27 new cases, up from 22 yesterday.

Bath and North East Somerset registered 16, South Somerset had six, Somerset West and Taunton and Sedgemoor had eight and four respectively and Mendip had five.

Today’s figures for deaths within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 have been affected by a change in the way data is reported.

Public Health England said: “Some previously reported deaths in England have been reassigned to different resident local authorities. The total death toll for England is not affected, but some local authorities and regions will show inaccurate daily figures for the June 16, 2021, due to this change The cumulative number of deaths in each local authority and affected region will also change.

“This improvement means that where there are conflicting resident addresses, the address noted when registering deaths will take priority. This will result in less changes in the geographic distribution of historical death tolls in the future. . “

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results in parentheses:

Distribution of Covid deaths for each region of Somerset

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with new deaths and deaths removed from the total after past data revisions, in parentheses.

The latest UK figures show the number of daily reported cases topped 9,000 for the first time since February 25.

As of this date, there were 9,985 reported cases.

The government said nine more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 127,926.

Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 153,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The government also said as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday there had been 9,055 more laboratory-confirmed cases in the UK.

Meanwhile, data up to June 15 shows that of the 72,461,462 Covid-19 vaccine injections administered in the UK so far, 42,021,089 were first doses – an increase of 190,033 the day before.

Some 30,440,373 were second doses, an increase of 230,666.
