Arrests after man was attacked in Lintot Square Southwater Brighton News

A MAN was allegedly assaulted by a group of people who got into his car thinking it was a taxi.

Police arrested five men after an assault in Southwater yesterday afternoon.

Agents were called to Place Lintot to report an altercation at around 4 p.m.

It was reported that a man was assaulted by a group of people who mistakenly got into his car thinking it was a taxi.

The group left the area in two separate vehicles.

Police said they had “promptly” arrested five men suspected of fighting in the roadway in Horsham.

The men – aged 24 to 32 and all from areas outside Sussex – remain in detention for the time being.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: ‘Police continue to conduct high visibility patrols in Southwater to identify and deter criminal and anti-social behavior.

“Members of the public are encouraged to continue reporting information to the police, so that officers can respond effectively. Information can be reported online or by calling 101, or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. ”
