COVID-19: UK reports 11,625 new cases and 27 other coronavirus-related deaths | UK News

The UK has reported 11,625 new cases of COVID – the highest since mid-February – and 27 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24-hour period, according to government data.

The numbers compare to 10,633 new infections and five deaths announced Monday.

Another 21,080 people received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine yesterday, while 39,325 people received a second dose.

This brings the total number of first doses to 43,148,843 and the number of people fully vaccinated to 31,489,240.

Monday’s immunization figures include only those that took place in Scotland, Wales and North Ireland due to an NHS England computer error, the Department of Health said.

Number of COVID cases reported on Tuesday are the highest since February 19 – when 12,027 new infections were recorded.

Tuesday’s daily death figures are also the highest since April 12 – when 30 deaths were reported.
