Man charged with murder after mother was stabbed to death UK News

A 31-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother at Potters Bar.

Kim Dearden was found with fatal stab wounds at an address in Oakfield Close on Sunday, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.

Charles Dearden, of Oakfield Close, Potters Bar, has been charged with murder and will appear in Hatfield Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).

Emergency services were called at 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, June 20 to raise concerns about the welfare of a woman at an address in Oakfield Close.

Police responded and a 63-year-old woman was found inside the property with serious stab wounds.

The ambulance service intervened but his injuries were fatal. His relatives have been informed.

A murder investigation was opened by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Major Crimes Unit and a man was arrested shortly after.

A stage guard remains in place at Oakfield Close as investigations continue.

Chief Detective Inspector Neil Langford, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Major Crimes Unit, said: “Our hearts go out to Kim’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“A murder investigation is being conducted by the BCH Major Crimes Unit and we would call on any witnesses or anyone with information about what happened to contact us.”
