The open-air cinema will inaugurate the summer festival in Barnet UK News

Barnet’s very first summer festival kicks off with an open-air cinema opening in just over a week.

The Finchley Screen will show family-friendly movies, outdoor fitness activities and live events such as Wimbledon and the Euros, opening with Finding Nemo from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 2.

While most of the programming is free to all, some screenings will be chargeable. There will be a charge of £ 5 to see three of the films – Bohemian Rhapsody, Beetlejuice and Black Panther – but those under 12 will be allowed entry for free.

The open-air cinema in Victoria Park is the first in a series of major borough-wide events as part of the Barnet Council’s Discover Barnet Presents summer festival.

They will include traveling street performances, family performers and artisan food markets in town centers, community carnivals in North Finchley and Edgware, with music, theater, food, drink, workshops and workshops. activities and more, and Barnet Summertime – a community-driven festival on the outskirts of Barnet that takes place on the bank holiday weekend in August.

Council Leader Dan Thomas said: “The past year has been difficult for everyone. We hope that through our summer festival, we will be able to support the borough’s economic recovery while celebrating our wonderful parks and wide open spaces.

“Our Discover Barnet campaign has attracted shoppers to our shopping streets. And now, with the Discover Barnet Presents summer festival, it will only get better for Barnet. We hope you enjoy our many events and activities in the months to come up.”

The event is organized in accordance with government guidelines.

The Discover Barnet campaign is funded in part by the European Regional Development Fund and Her Majesty’s Government.
