There will no longer be a “legal compulsion” to wear face masks once restrictions on coronaviruses in England are lifted, the Environment Secretary told Sky News, as he said he would drop his face cover when the rule would be removed.
George Eustice said the government wants “all legal requirements to do things to be completely removed” in step four of its roadmap for lifting COVID-19[female[feminine measures, which is currently scheduled for July 19.

“Whether there are still people who might choose to wear masks or whether it may be advisory in certain contexts is a separate issue,” he said.
“But the goal of this final step is to remove the legal obligation to do these things.”
When asked if he would continue to wear a face covering beyond that point, the Minister replied, “I wouldn’t, no. I have to be honest, once I have been told. said it was safe not to do it, I want to go back to normal.
“I think a lot of people will want to get rid of these masks.
“But even if it helps control the pandemic, yes, I will wear my mask like everyone else and I will do my part.”
Wearing a face cover in various places, including shops and on public transport, has been compulsory since last summer.
Mr Eustice’s comments come after an expert told Sky News social distancing and mask wearing are here to stay because new variants will continue to emerge and will be “troublesome”.
David Nabarro, a special envoy on the coronavirus for the World Health Organization, suggested that wearing a mask and keeping away would still be necessary for areas of high infection.
